Modern Driftwood Coffee Table (pulling a room together finally)

My dad came through for me again!!

I mentioned to him that if he ever came across some reclaimed wood, I would love him to make a coffee table for a small sitting area that we have in our home.
It's a room that I have neglected forever and wanted to try to pull together without spending a lot of money.

Naturally, the next week he called and said he came across a guy near where he lived that had a huge pile of wood that was reclaimed from a 70-year-old fishing pier near where he lives.
He told my dad to take as much as he needed.

I emailed my dad this photo below of the Bungalow 5 Jacqui Coffee Table for inspiration.  The legs were the main part of the table that I wanted to replicate.

And below is the table that he delivered to me a couple of weeks ago.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS TABLE!!!!!!!

Since I didn't have any accessories in this room yet, I just grabbed a few things that I already had to play around with styling the table.

You can see where I placed my campaign side tables on either side of the sofa.

Below you can see that they barely fit on either side of the sofa.

The room looks a lot more finished than it actually is.
All of the pillows and accessories are from other parts of the house and have to go back.

I have several scraps of the wood in my garage.  I am going to play around with it to see if I want to add a paste wax or maybe do a very light gray wash.

I am leaning towards leaving it just the way it is, though.

Here is a closer shot where you can see that this is definitely old, reclaimed wood.

Thanks, Dad!!!
XOXOXO

  15. Your dad is so talented! The table he made was even prettier than the one you showed him. I like the old wood look. It looks like an antique, and yet it suits your modern furniture too. Maybe your dad can also make one for me? LOL! Just kidding! =)
