Well, the outdoor kitchen was finished around Thanksgiving and we LOVE IT!!
My son was home for Christmas and Thanksgiving and although it was pouring, we still used it almost every night.
Can you see the little Christmas tree up on the countertop? It was so cute at night with white lights.
So, here are some different shots of the finished product. I am going to change up the plants to potted boxwoods and get some different pillows also.
The chair and table are also not staying here (It looks like I sell all-weather wicker out here) but returning to the other side of the pool where it was originally.
I just have not found anything that I want that I can also afford yet.
The only "real" screwup are the shutters behind the sink. The day they were installing the sink faucet, I immediately realized what we had done. As you can see, they will not open now.
Oh, well, the main reason I had a second pair of shutters was to balance out the other shutter that hides the TV and maybe get an occasional breeze. It turned out to be no big deal and I feel lucky that this was the only thing that surprised us in the end.
For $139 my husband got the standup propane heater and it was worth every penny. With that and the fireplace it is warm out there on even the coldest nights.
I LOVE the gas lanterns. I had never had gas lanterns and was afraid if we left them burning all of the time that our gas bill would be too high. I have no idea how it works out this way but there is no increase that we have seen with the lanterns.
Here are a few shots of the garden. We have had absolutely no winter to speak of here in Houston. My grass is usually dead looking and brown throughout the winter and it has retained almost all of its green.
First time I have ever had this happen.
Thanks for stopping by!!!!

First of all, I'm so glad you are back to blogging. I just discovered your blog recently (via Velvet & Linen) and I am thrilled to see your post today. Secondly, your kitchen patio is beautiful and your garden is lovely. Your home needs to be photographed for Veranda! What I love about your kitchen: the RH chairs (I have a set as well, love them!), the gas lanterns, the cedar beams and the shutters, which add a nice break in that back wall. Who cares they don't open since they provide privacy, but I have to thank you for sharing your "screwup". What a relief since we all make them.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! It's beautiful!! I LOVE the shutters too!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous...jaw dropping gorgeous
ReplyDeleteEverything looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe vulnerable spot is the kitchen sink area which should be sealed with urethane caulk at the backsplashand around the sink. You want to stay with water-based material to avoid creating a fire hazard around your stove.
ReplyDeleteamazing. no words. when can we sit and sip on something cold and feel the breeze?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. Seriously Your home and efforts in to you blog is amazing. I can't wait to stop back in. You should be glad we live far away from each other because if you were to ever invite me over, you could never get me to leave.
ReplyDeleteAmazing garden, house, everything!
I was just catching up on your blog and came across this post. Love the outdoor kitchen - I love everything about it. We live on our screened in porch practically year round... but it occurred to me- maybe you could get your handyman to change the shutters behind your sink to open and close barn door style on the rollers/pulleys you see a lot ni lofts, etc. I know there are a bunch of examples of that on Pinterest and some of the big design blogs. That might work - food for thought!! Enjoying your blog! Marcie
ReplyDeleteThis is what outdoor living is all about! I think what you only need is some form of entertainment and you are all set to spend your days here. My, the combination of an outdoor kitchen and living area is such a great idea! You can enjoy the meals you prepare and just relax in front of the fireplace that way. =)

I totally love the design of your outdoor kitchen. I think the shutters behind the sink add beauty to that area. It looks like a backslpash. So, don’t regret about it. Anyway, may I know what type of grill did you install in your outdoor kitchen? It looks very efficient! ->Dominic Pablo
